Miles of fun on Inter-club rally

We had the Interclub Car Rally yesterday with 6 cars and 13 entrants from Bay of Islands Club.

Our DG Neil Murray also attended the rally and he partnered with Don, a previous BOI member.

We met at AG Vicki’s home in Waipapa where we were briefed by Vicki and Devon on what to do. The course had a time limit of 2 ½ hours and was about 90 km.

We had to find clues along the way, which included amongst, others the following:

  • finding numbered rocks in Waipapa
  • work out parking cost at Kerikeri Airport
  • pick up more rocks on the way to Puketona,
  • find clues at the Holy Trinity Church in Pakaraka,
  • drive to Kawakawa with more clues/answers to be collected on the way, including an animal on a roof
  • visit Hundertwasser Memorial Park – take selfies and find more clues in Kawakawa
  • visit the Opua Commercial Centre, advise number of businesses there and who sponsors The Minerva
  • Take a selfie with a NZ native animal
  • Collect more clues going through Paihia and also a sachet of tomato sauce ( which was used for the sausages)
  • We drove back to Waipapa and now it was really on, finding more clues and trying to pass fellow participants

Third prize was won by Thys, Heidi and Darryl, second prize was Roger and Jill. Clive and Val Newton from Kerikeri were the winners.

We were treated to a great meal of ham, sausages, salads etc at Vicky’s house, courtesy of Unichem Pharmacy.

The cherry on top, was Siouxsie Wiles who arrived and was presented a Paul Harris Fellow by Vicki.

Many thanks to Assistant Governor Vicki and Kerikeri Club for organising this and their hospitality.
